Montenegro's government recognizes the importance of gender equality in the workplace, says Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue Anđela Ivanović.

The story of Montenegro cannot be told without women, said Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue Anđela Ivanović on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Committee for Gender Equality. The minister emphasized that gender equality is not just a matter of women, but also a matter of quality institutions, sustainable economic development and democratic maturity of society. The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue, led by Minister Nišić, has implemented one of the most significant reforms in labour legislation. The New Labour Law was not only a harmonization with EU legal framework, but an opportunity to transform modern European standards into concrete rights for citizens of Montenegro. We have achieved a balance between private and business life of employed people, expanded and improved parental rights, introduced the right of employees to take leave for childcare, introduced flexible forms of work and strengthened protection against discrimination in the workplace. This has sent a clear message that dignified work, equal opportunities and balancing professional and family life are not privileges, but rights.
